Texas deals with damage caused by devastating Hurricane Harvey
Hurricane Harvey, which hit Texas as a category 4 storm, has already claimed the lives of two people. Residents told Fox News that they have no way of rebuilding the home they lost. "We have a camper that survived it," they said. "At least we have something to live in."

Texas is coping with the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, the powerful storm that made landfall as a category 4. So far, the storm has claimed the lives of two people. Many others were injured by the strongest storm to hit Texas in the past 50 years. Rain has been heavily pouring down during the past 48 hours, causing extensive flooding in southeast Texas.
Along Route 35 between Port Aransas and Rockport, many homes and caravans were destroyed. Nancy and George Collins, residents of the area, found it hard to believe that their home has been completely destroyed. They told Fox News that they do not have any insurance or way to rebuild their lives. "We have a camper that survived it. At least we have something to live in," George said. "A lot of people don’t."
Tom Walker, who manages an auto parts store in Rockport, said that the strong winds just tore the roof of his store off. "We’ll rebuild. It’ll take time but we’ll get there," he said.
Rockport Mayor Charles Wax told CNN that the storm has caused "widespread devastation" in the city. "We've already taken a severe blow from the storm but we're anticipating another one when the flooding comes," he added.
240,000 homes throughout Texas are still without power. The damage includes fallen trees, collapsed homes, uprooted road signs and flooding. "It's going to last four to five days," said Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. He also urged drivers to stay off the road, stressing that this was only "Day One."
